As you found out working on a complex automatic transmission is not a typical DIY. Sorry I can't help with telling you exactly what to replace. You would need to get a manual for your transmission, talk to a few who have done it before and what to look for or find a DIY online. That is why transmission mechanics get paid the big bucks. It is a common problem, so your local transmission mechanic could offer a repair or maybe even share with you what it could possibly be if you have it all apart. Usually when things like this start happening, and you fix the reverse issue, then other problems will manifest. Mechanics will suggest a complete rebuild, usually that comes with a warranty as well. Good Luck.
