Chrysler 300 gear shift stuck in park

Could be a brake switch that is connected to the brake pedal. You normally step on the brake to place the car in gear. If the switch goes out and you step on the brake the trans will not engage. Also could be a fuse.

There is a safety device that serves as "Park Lock out switch". This little pink plastic devise has a strong spring attached and the little loop that holds the spring is known to break off. It has been a common problem with 2005."

You can fix it yourself if it is the "Pinky Thing" as outlined on youtube videos. This happened on my 2006 300. You can take off the bezel on you shifter, and manually push on the "Pinky Thing" to allow you to shift. Check it out on Youtube! The part can be gotten at a Dealer for about $8.

I have not checked the latch yet. In my case the shift unfreezes from park after a few times turning the engine off and on. The problem had "disappeared" for a year and from last week i face it again.

My 2005 is locked in park, my shifter can be freed up by pushing the back pink lever on the shifter. I can see the front pink lever and spring are intact, my shift selection does not light up in my cluster nor will it show me the numbers in the bottom box in the cluster. When I drive it it stays in first gear. Hoping it's something simple as it just came out of storage
