What do the car silhouettes on the electronic display mean?

Asked by goPrius Jan 15, 2013 at 01:24 PM about the 2011 Toyota Prius Three

Question type: General

Prius Display - I would like to know what the silhouettes of the cars on the electronic display mean.  These become illuminated when in the 1 minute or 5 minute display mode is selected on the 2011 Prius console.  These silhouettes will stack on top of one another sometimes in the bar that shows your approximate mileage the over the past 1 minute or 5 minute time (depending on what mode you are in).  This seems to happen more frequently when the car is driven hard with accelerations.  These car silhouettes do not appear if you are driving the car with slow accelerations and soft foot on the gas pedal.

No one seems to be able to answer what the car silhouettes mean including the dealership here in San Francisco.
