It's a automatic. The whine sounds like its coming from the engine area

does it happen under cold start? because there has been a common issue among 300's where idling to accelerating the car whines when the engine is warmed up and has something to do with oil system and they recommend getting it diagnosed ...but other people have had similar issues on Chrysler's and its been the alternator whining...also is ur car the 3.5 or 2.7? there were a lot of complaints about engine noise for those blocks...all in all probably something that should at least be inspected to know what ur dealing with

It's 2.7.. It's not only cold tho, evn when the engine is warm it makes that sound. I may just take it to the dealership. Ihad it diagnosed because ethe engine light was on and it said could possibly be the oxygen sensor but I don't know how much that would affect the performance of the car.

indeed, an O2 sensor might fix it...if its not working then its like having a badly tuned car
