2020 class action lawsuit

Asked by raimpala Sep 23, 2020 at 08:03 AM about the 2011 Jeep Patriot Latitude 4WD

Question type: General

Hi everyone, I am having the same trouble with my 2011 jeep patriot. The
problem I am having is with the rollover valve which is located in the gas
tank.  When I put fuel in, it acts like it is full, even though the gas gauge is
telling me that I have ½ tank of gas.  It will only take the gas if I put in ½
gallon at a time.  Then when I start to drive it, it wants to stall, and I have to
give it the gas and then it runs.
I contact Jeep and no response.  I think we ought to start a class action
lawsuit since there are a lot of people with this problem.

Sounds like an EVAP problem. If you want to take the lead on starting legal action you should contact your attorney to see if you actually have a case and or want to start a class action suit. There are plenty of articles online on the steps you need to take.

We have a 2014 Cherokee Limited, 2.5 years ago we had the filler tube replaced still under warrantee for this same issue. Two weeks ago it started doing it again, took it into the dealer thinking it was the filler tube again, only to be told this time that the gas tank needs to be replaced because of the stuck valve. Not covered under any warrantee so it will cost $1,425.00 to replace. This to me is unacceptable, I have had other vehicles with 100's of thousands of miles on them and never had any issues with gas tanks! To me this is a major flaw in the design and should be a recall issue because of so many complaints.

Point us to these articles. I have found nothing other than spending a lot of money for a new gas tank instead of a part made to replace the valve assembly. And nothing 5o say that it will last for very long.
