Do it matter what type of battery i buy

It absolutely does matter what type you buy. Cadillac's are very electronic dependent vehicles you want a battery that feed the necessary amount of voltage to the car both for the northstar startup and electronics

Get one with the right CCA rating (Cold Cranking Amps), correct case size (group number), and correct terminal configuration (top or side terminals). Any battery store can help you with this if you are not familiar with the different types on the market. Brand is not important but stick with a common one with a good warranty.
