2011 Subaru Outback sometimes doesn't start first try and has now died at two stoplights

Asked by Susan Jan 01, 2020 at 01:35 AM about the 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every so often when I turn the ignition, my car
takes multiple attempts to start. It sounds like it's
starting, but doesn't "catch". I thought it must be
something with the starter, but now that the engine
has stopped twice at a stoplight, I'm thinking it
must be something else. When it does either of
these things, a bunch of warning lights start
flashing: brake, check engine, oil temperature,
cruise control, etc. Any ideas? I have an
appointment Friday morning!

You can check the oil level in the meantime, it might be low? But I would then scan for the trouble codes to see what the issue is. But like you said, wait till Friday till the service department can check it out.
