traction control and 3rd light issue

Asked by Bruce Apr 10, 2013 at 01:22 PM about the 2003 Cadillac CTS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just purchased a 03 cts contingent on inspection sticker. The trac control light is on and the cruise
doesnt work as well as the 3rd brake light. I have heard that the second of 2 brake switches is
responsible for this .anyone have this problem? How did you fix it.

The brake pedal has two switches. One the turns on the brake lights and one that is used for other functions like cruise control. It actually sends a signal to the BCM and the BCM sends power to the CC.

Yes I had this problem Traction control light on, cruise control wasn't working and only the long thin trunk brake light lit up when brake was depressed. I fixed the problem by changing all of my brake light bulbs.
