There's a simple rod that goes from the door handle to the latch, usually held in place with plastic clips, and on occasion the rod pops out of the clips and prevents handle from working. To fix it remove the door panel and reattach by hand. Google/Youtube for a how-to on removing door panels, just need some basic tools, screwdriver, small prybar, maybe a nut-driver, and lots of patience.
