Unlocking car using driver door keypad

Asked by GuruHT4LC Jul 23, 2019 at 03:19 PM about the 2017 Ford Fusion

Question type: General

When unlocking the car using the driver door
keypad, My 2017 Ford Fusion SE will
sometimes unlock all doors but usually just
the driver door. And sometimes it always
pops open the trunk. Why. I can’t find
anything in the manual that explains this and
the dealer doesn’t understand it either.

Solved it: After entering the entry code on the keypad located on the outside doorframe on the 2017 Ford Fusion, pressing the 3 will unlock all doors & trunk, pressing the 5 will pop the trunk. This works if you press one of those buttons within a certain amount of time (I don’t know exactly how many seconds) even after you open the driver door. I figured out that when used the keypad to unlock the car, I would grab the upper part of the doorframe to fully open the door. My fingers would sometimes inadvertently press the 5 key and the trunk lid would pop open. It took me forever figure this out and quite by accident too. One guy at the dealership was aware of the 3 key unlocking all doors but had no idea about the 5 key popping the trunk
