SLK 350 AMG 2006 windlow and top failure to open close

Asked by Ragdoll15 May 19, 2024 at 11:17 AM about the 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG 55

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The rear Hyd. cylinders that change the lock position at the trunk latch have
rusted out and no longer will support the cylinder at the bottom end. Seems
the rear tires throw road salt at the sheet metal here and caused the
complete failure at this critical spot. I can lock it down manually, but I can not
get the top to work. Is there any way to bypass the trunk sensor and raise
and lower the top any other way? I also need the rear windows to close.

Yes, there is a way to do what you want. You can't bypass sensors, so get the car fixed. If you can't work on cars or don't like how expensive Mercedes repairs are, don't have a twenty year old Mercedes.
