BMW 98/99

Asked by ThatOneGuySomeoneUse... Mar 29, 2016 at 01:21 AM about the 1999 BMW 5 Series 528i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My tranny has recently started to slip on my 99 bmw 528I and I know
someone who has a 98 bmw 528I with an array of issues, but the tranny
and several other parts are not among them. I was wondering if there
would be a way to tell if the tranny from the 98 would fit my 99? Or if other
parts would. They are both 4 doors and both 4 speed auto's. They look
pretty much the same down to the paint job.

sounds good- are you doing the work yourself? then you have the ability to figure this out- if you are having a good mechanic do this, then have him/her determine: first if the operation is necessary and secondly if that other tranny will indeed fit- this is what I usually recommend, get a real good mechanic- cheaper and easier in the long run-
