Ticking noise

My check engine light came on on my way home today
and I hear a ticking noise when I accelerate. I tried
topping off my oil but when I turned it back on and hit
the gas it still makes that ticking noise. What could it
be? Serpentine belt?

You can go to a parts store or a shop and have it hooked to an OBD and see what the engine codes are that will pinpoint what exactly the problem is. That noise could be anything from a loose bolt to the bearings about to go.
