shift annoyance

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Since new, if from a dead stop I apply light accelerator pressure, the vehicle shifts hard into second gear.  Not a bang or even a sound, just the feel.  Moderate accelerator pressure from a dead stop stops the problem.  It only happens from a dead stop.  If I am creeping along to turn a corner it will not shift hard as long as the car is in motion.  It's under warranty still, so bringing it to the shop is not a problem.  Just wondering what the problem is.

could be something as simple as a reprogram. could be something wrong with a solenoid or something inside the transmission. Hard to say but it will be fixed under warranty. Skimming through TSB's there are many about shifting issues one that caught my eye was about the torque converter clutch un-commanded engage on 1-2 shift. But its all depending on what transmission you have. But either way im sure the dealer will figure it out when you take it in.

Yep, the other problem I had when I first purchased the vehicle was a "thunk". This time when coming to a stop. Called the dealership and was informed they had many F-150's in with the same problem but could not find the cause. Finally a TSB was put out covering the condition. Only the cars with a two piece drive shaft had the problem. Brought it in and it was fix/replaced within an hour. Thanks

Have 2008 f150. Been hard shift from 1-2 since new. Trans gave out at 99,600. Under extended warranty. They replace it. Now same shifting problem 1-2 with 6k miles. Back to Ford dealer I go.
