How can a false theft alert cause $1000 bill?

Asked by Jack Dec 23, 2020 at 04:26 PM about the 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Nissan would not start when I cam
out of work. Wouldn't even try and had been
fine.
Had it towed to Nissan and the want $1000
to reprogram it! I was at work and no one
even had touched the car.

Just to reprogram or are they replacing other parts? I would get a second opinion from a local garage.

I would want more details! I hope that includes replacement parts, reprogramming, and labor! I would caution against letting an independent shop, locksmith, or chain type of repair facility anywhere near a security system problem!! The Dealer is really the best way to go. But even then, be careful, people are looking for Christmas money! Know exactly what you're getting for a thousand dollars!! Hope that helps! Jim
