Coolant reservoir hose connection

Asked by Anthony Oct 11, 2021 at 04:29 AM about the 2010 Ford Taurus SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought an aftermarket radiator for my 2010
Taurus SEL. Which has only an upper and
lower hose connection, none for the coolant
tank hose. Which hose do I connect the
reservoir hose to. I can't return the radiator and
can't spend any more money to buy a different
one

Tough situation but F_O_R is probably right - you got the wrong radiator. Double check that what you got matches with what you ordered, just to be sure you didn't get the wrong part from the supplier. If it matches, and the supplier will not work with you for a return swap, then you could have a new outlet neck from a used radiator welded onto the new radiator in place of the one that is on it now. Then run the overflow hose from the new fitting to your over flow tank. This will also probably require a new radiator cap but they are cheap. Most are rated at a 15-16 PSI opening pressure.

The radiator I'm seeing on Rockauto.com have three hose connections. If yours only has two either you were sold the wrong radiator or the radiator is defective because it's boxed wrong. Either way you need to get the store to exchange it. If the store won't, call their corporate telephone number! Hope that helps! Jim
