Coolant reservoir leaks coolant where cap is

Asked by Mustarger01 Jun 07, 2014 at 04:20 PM about the 2002 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 ford taurus, I put
coolant in the reservoir and when the
car gets hot it boils out of the top
where the cap is. Do I need to buy a
new reservoir? I replaced the water
pump and the cap but it keeps doing
it.

Did you get all the air out of cooling system? If not an air pocket will cause this sort of issue. If not that then I would do an exhaust gas test on your cooling system. Possibly blown head gasket.

Its not a head gasket ive checked that out. Could a pinhole in a.c condenser line cause overheating or coolant loss?
