Question type: General

Maybe someone can help?  09 F-
150 4.6 3V I purchased this truck
with 20K I now have 75k. Since
day one it has a ticking noise
almost sounds like a diesel at
times. I've had no trouble with this
vehicle I'm wondering is this
going to bite me in the ass in the
future? I was told all 4.6 make
that sound?

The phasers ticking louder and louder will indicate they need replacement. If you have a stethoscope, place it on the hump on the front of the valve cover and listen. You can also use a screw driver, placing your ear on the handle while touching the hump.
