Loud ticking noise

Asked by Crystal Jan 11, 2018 at 07:20 PM about the 2000 Ford F-150

Question type: General

I have had my 2000 Ford F150 with the V8 4.6L
engine since December 1999. It has 309,814 miles
on it. I haven't had any major problems with it until
now, but I have recently started hearing a loud
ticking noise coming from the engine. Can
someone give me an idea of what the problem
could be?

Ticking could be a valve train problem or a knock could be a rod bearing.
