2009 KIA Spectra - Installing back up camera to power on reverse light. Which colored wire is positive? black or white

I need to know if the car is a negative ground (is that the black wire?).... which wire is positive (white?).  Yada Backup Camera with 5" Dash Monitor.  My friend tried to install it this way but the camera isn't getting power.  The reverse light works.

get an electrical tester and check for 12 volts. don't hook up anything until you know, don't want to fry yur new camera

Can anyone help? I need to know too. Black or white? (buy a voltage tester is NOT an answer!)
