Left caliper is stuck mechanically, unable to release. Or it is applied hydraulically. Applying the brake actuates the right caliper and produces its normal function. Inspect and perform tests on both sides in the front as indicated, or seek help from a brake repair place. Tests and inspection needs to be performed to the entire system, hoses, calipers rotors and parts that supply hydraulic pressure need to be isolated during testing as indicated. Each test can lead to others in the diagnosis. Guessing would get expensive.

A hanging or stuck caliper sliding pin can cause the symptoms you described. As stated earlier, maybe it's better to just change out the major parts

Safety systems like brakes require inspection and a meaningful purpose behind part replacement. The quality of your hard parts can be degraded nowadays by parts from china after pricing leads to launching a load of wong dongs at it. Get a real technician to find your cause(s) and replace what is failed, but know what caused it first. Repeating the problem just cooks the new ones. Ford may update the part to be used as a correction, dont skip that step. Check your Tech service bulletins about cause and correction.

replaced JUST the caliper bracket 7 months ago, made sure the pins were really slick. BUT now I'm back in the same boat, with a pad down to metal on the inside, and the outside pad looks brand new. to echo Bob above. I'm replacing everything this time. Bracket/Caliper/Rotors/Pads. Should be good for a long time with all new.

Depends whose parts you use, and whether they are a correction or whether they are just what's currently availablew in the aftermarket. When you research the cause in a safety system, you check with updates from its maker. They may change construction of the parts they use, because, just like you, they are trying to go on the cheap, then correct on the cheap, Then NHTSA gets info about it, and they have to show a real corrective measure was taken. Thats the voice of observation and experience. Other times, technicians know a real fix that comes from experience, but is not a published thing you can find with your fingertips. For instance, if you have a brake friction and hydraulic supplier in your area, bring your failed parts in.... They find out what your cause must be, and arrange for the correction you need. In that way, you can get simple answers at reduced cost, instead of paying retail. Then you have knowledge of the cause. The best cost effective correction, and put an end to the repeat repair, or the repeating cause from parts, circumstances, order of events, or even, God forbid, choices by the operator.
