Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 and I
stopped to get fuel and turned it off pumped
my fuel went inside and came back out and it
wouldn’t start!?!  Ugh my husband put a new
fuel filter in, a new CAM Relay, and a new
Accessory Relay.  Nothing has helped. He
tried the whole turning the key, unhooking
the battery, and he bypassed and hooked the
lift pump to the battery and it worked. I want
my car back and want to figure out what to
do to get it running again!!!!  If it’s the theft
light what is going to stop it from happening
again??? I love my car can someone please
help!!! Any advice is welcome!!!

Put it in Neutral, foot on brake, then try starting. If that works check the position switch on the transmission. I haven't checked or replaced mine because when this happens it starts in neutral no problem.

That part to check on the transmission is the "neutral safety switch" or "transmission range switch." Another tweak to look into (but I think your problem is the nss) is a loose shifter cable. https://youtu.be/FD9AhzZOCcY
