Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm 6 hours away from home and I need to have my
oil changed but do not know anybody in the local
area I can trust. Can I add oil to my Accord until I
get home?

You cannot add oil if the old oil is at the Maximum level. Never overfill oil. You will blow seals.

If you are low on oil, look on oil cap and see weight of oil needed. You may need to look at old receipt to see if your car requires full synthetic, synthetic blend or conventional.

Hey everybody! I'm down from Atlanta trying to take care of my dad. I'm showing 20% for my oil. I should have had it changed at 40%. But my dad fell and it was an emergency and I had to get down to Florida quickly.. I don't know anyone in the area so I decided to go to a dealer on Monday and have my oil changed. I have 214,000 miles on my Accord and I have taken very good care of it. I don't want something like this to cause my engine to blow up. I really appreciate everybody's answers. Y'all are awesome!

Not a problem, Even at 0% you're still safe to drive provided there's oil on the dipstick, take care.

The percentage is not the oil level. It is the oil life. Check the oil level, top if off and don't worry.

Thank you so much!! I am a little overwhelmed being away from home and trying to take care of my Dad. . I need to drive back to Atlanta on 12/6 and I was concerned about my oil. My 2009 Accord has 114 000 miles and I am hoping there's a lot of life left, providing I take care of it... I have used the same dealer since 2009.. So I am a little spoiled and they have never tried to overtake services to me.. Thanks eveyone!!

I really should not do talk-to-text on this. What I meant to say was the dealer has never tried to over sell me on any services.
