2008 gmc 2500 hd. 4x4

When in 2hi. And running in rain or wet
condition. sometimes the left front axle (or
both)engages into 4 wheel drive. When I feel
this I ease to a stop   You hear front axle free
spin to a stop then click (or go back into 2
wd).     Loose wire connection?
