Brake's or Suspension Noise

Asked by Kamil Jul 03, 2016 at 02:23 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1LT Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 with 62k miles, I noticed that the brakes
were squealing so I had them replaced, the mechanic said my front pads
were good and all I needed were rear brake shoes for my drum's. That was
cool with me and a couple hours later I got my truck back, I drove it home
and noticed the pedal felt better and the response was better, About a
week later i started noticing a weird clinging sound (as if I had a ladder rack
on my truck) every time i hit a bump, I am no mechanic but its as if maybe
the leaf springs are not tightened properly. The sound only happens on big
bumps and potholes

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

Have the noise checked out by your mechanic. It could be the exhaust pipe rattling around or a suspension issue. When the mechanic fixed your brakes there would have been no reason to mess with anything to do with leaf springs. One more thing, check to see if the lug nuts are tight on the rear wheels.

I have a 2012 chevy silverado1500 2wd. I recently had my brakes changed and also driver side motor mount. Still hearing metal clinging sound coming from front of truck on driver side. Only happens when sitting still and when I release my brake and press the gas, that's when I hear the metal knock sound. Not motor or motor mount, I checked myself. Any suggestions on what it might be?
