Key in the ignition issue

Asked by Rick Sep 17, 2021 at 11:32 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Key doesnt come out of ignition during hot
days. When I disconnect the battery the key
comes right out everytime. On cooler days
the key doesnt come out right away but if I
wait a minute there is a clicking sound in the
dashboard and then the key comes out. On
cold days it comes out without any
problems. I dread summer but love winter.
Its been doing this for 4 years. Any idea
what is causing the issue?

I think you need to replace the ignition switch. See a mechanic or an automotive locksmith.
