Ooooh I have an answer for this. My Elantra sometimes does this, usually the housing that the key goes into gets stuck open after the key is removed. Just poke the key into the ignition a little bit and you will hear it click closed when you remove the key. A ton of times I've come out and found the battery dead because I didn't pay attention to the noise and it left my running lights on over night.
