Why is the heat in my cobalt not working?

When you start the cobalt the heat wont be running, as in nothing blowing out the vents at
all. if you hit the dash or the blower motor the heat will come on instantly. I just wanted to
make sure that the motor is bad before i try replacing it. could it possibly be something
else?

less common would be the valve that regulates the hot water through the core or the ductwork not working properly
Definitely not fluid level if you get a response by hitting the dash, and it's not the blower motor if it works when you bang on it. There is probably a resistor in the duct work. They are prone to failure. That sounds like the more likely problem.

Blower motor does not come on - either short in the wiring or electrical sensor contact loose, or bad sensor! Do the easiest ck connection on sensor, the ck wires for loose connector or broken wire! I had a wire that was bent 90 degrees at the point where it was going into the contact! I moved wire 180 degree in opposite direction and it made a circuit !

Blower is on, air is cold in heater setting. No problems with air conditioner. Replaced the thermostat and still NO HOT AIR!!! No noises present, everything normal except no HOT AIR! PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Desperate woman
Check your coolant level. If it’s too low you can loose your heat. Also make sure there’s no air trapped in the system after changing the thermostat.

There is a bleeder valve near the thermostat that you use to release air. Sometimes it helps to have the vehicle parked facing uphill as well to help the air find its way out of the system.
