Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went to the store for pants car drove perfectly
fine,came back out car wouldn't start. It's a 5spd
V6 Mustang. I turn the key and there's no beeping
or clicking of any kind. Like I said the car drove
perfectly fine when BeforeI got to the store. Now My
headlights turn on and my interior lights come on
but my windows won't roll down and my radio
won't turn on. The only signal my dash is showing is
the anti-theft signal. Any simple solutions to try or
anyone had the same/similar problem?

Triple A came out and tested the battery and checked all fuses under the hood and inside the car all were fine. Tried jumping it and nothing happened.

Ford anti theft PATS (passive anti theft system) you need to have the car checked with a code reader most discount auto stores do this, no fee. The PCM= cars computer will show if there is a PATS code, very likely, try using another original key they have a CHIP inside that interacts with the anti theft system.

Thanks Auto_Centric that sounds Plausible. I'll see about that after work today. I don't have another key but could I have one made then taken to Ford for a chip? What would I do with the old key if that is the problem? Could the current key refitted with a different chip?

Please use a Ford Key blank the RFID chip is embedded in the head of the key... save your self a lot of headache. also the key will need to be programed to the EEC5 the cars computer. When I program keys for clients I insist on the use of OEM (original equipment manufacture) blanks. Ann Arbor, MI

Alright I'm having the car towed to Ford to have the key made and computer tested. If the key isnt the problem I'll have a spare made by Ford either way.

It's always a good idea to have 2 keys to any vehicle. If you ever sell your Mustang having 2 OEM keys makes a difference, really!

My 2008 Ford Mustang has an aftermarket alarm VIPER. It did the same thing you listed the head lights turned on, lights inside the car turned on, but it would not start. None of the dash lights turn on only the "anti-theft" light turns off and on very quick. FYI: (Battery works, starter works, and alternator works as well) Did you find a solution?

Everything works on the dash board. It cranks one day and the next day it won't say nothing. I had a after market keyfob so I went and got another one at AutoZone and had it programmed to the car. So what's the next step to take.
