What should it cost to replace a turbo on a 2008 VW Passat?

Asked by Guerrmo Sep 23, 2016 at 10:43 AM about the 2008 Volkswagen Passat Komfort

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turbo is making a whistling sound when I accelerate and slow down. I assumed it was a boost leak. Mechanic replaced the diverter valve to see if that would fix it. REmoved the pipe connecting the turbo and determined the turbo was gradually failing.

I would say between $600.00 to $800.00 in labor plus the cost of a new Turbo.
