will my battery cause reduce power warning to come on or is this just another issue?

My battery started to act up last night. Car was slow to start and just turned over. happened on way to work and on way home. Radio and clock all reset. I got up today to go and get a new battery and the reduced engine power warning came on and now my car will just idle. is this possibly just the battery or is this a bigger issue. Should I try the battery and see what happens or is it time to look into a new car?

no no no ...the black 1/0 cable from the battery connects to the chassis...unbolt this connection and wirebrush the cable end...and the spot where it connects to assure a SOLID 300 cold cranking amps potential...what happens is the "BLUE spark....every time, dis-similar metals will leave a layer of "semiconductor" behind....get that down to shiny metal lug and chassis...put them together...problem solved...hooray for us~

the answer to every starting problem is not the ground connection to the frame. how cold is it there? how old is your battery? all batteries lose power in extreme cold. a car that starts ok on a 70 degree day may not start when it's 20 degrees outside. take the car to an auto parts store and have them check the battery and the charging and starting systems. most major stores will do this for free, and will not charge an install fee for a new battery if you need one.
