2008 ford escape awd. recently battery went dead. may be result of the right
turn signal on dashboard is always on. Turn signals all working and dash does
brightly blink when activating turn signals. What would cause dash indicator to
stay on? is this fuse related or a possible short in the dash?

check your bulbs sometimes a bulb going out can cause that or a bulb that is not correct.

cjsras, yea, good suggestion, was waiting for a 'nicer' day to check em all - remove/replace and see if that clears light.
