Temperature is on hot but no smoke

I have a 2008 Ford Escape xlt v6, the temperature gauge points to hot but no
smoke is coming out. Coolant was added recently, but there is a leaks coming
from the front right side. No heat works, only blows cold air. I need this to run
another 6 months. Help please!

First thing I'd recommend is to get the leak fixed, then see if it quits overheating. As for the heater, it may be the leak as well, but it could also be the heater hose or temperature control
