Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 BMW X5 4.4i SUV needs either
new or rebuilt camshaft for parts and labor
idea of price, also will it hurt engine if I
continue to drive it

If the cams are failing I would not drive it at all. The cost will be high so get an estimate from an independent shop as the dealer cost will be far higher.

I would want to know why the cams are failing. Lack of lubrication? Fix the root problem when replacing the cams.
