My bmw x5 will not start. I replaced the alternator and the battery. Help!!.

Whenever I try to start it, it just makes a
clicking sound. Battery is brand new.

My bmw 320i 2002 woant start now after i thrashed it then parked it up, only to find it didnt start when i tryed it in the morning. It clicks in the steering weel column aswel just once.? Lil black box on the top of engine makes a continuious tapping and there is a winding noise aswel in the stearing column? I jacked car up in front of houae for me to wash.q1
