Start problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Used car on daily basis. Then today went to start it and
there was power for lights, radio, lock and unlock. But as I
turned it over i got no fire not even a crank. Tested battery
it was at 13volts. Tested the ground on the frame and
there is power there also. Tried jumping the car and
checked all my fuses. Anyother ideas or advice? Anybody
else ever had this same problem?

Switch on the headlights and have a helper try to crack it. Do the headlights stay nice and bright? Or do they dim badly or go out? If they stay nice and bright try hitting the starter a few times with a hammer. If that gets you going it's a bad starter. Also try starting it in neutral. If that gets you going it's a bad neutral safety switch. If the headlights dim badly or go out have the battery load tested. Having 13 volts is good but you also need to have enough cold cranking amps to start the engine! Also check the battery cable connections at both ends. Make sure everything is clean and tight!
