Revving sound and feel different told could be transmission issues

Asked by Tom Feb 19, 2019 at 12:06 AM about the 2001 Subaru Outback H6-3.0 VDC

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback has about 190,000 miles on it, and it's
making a revving sound when reaching about 30 mph or so, then stays there
but it's not as noticeable when you get to about 50 mph. The car still drives
okay though.
I JUST had several fairly expensive repairs including replacing both catalytic
converters as well as the front left axle. My mechanic suggested the revv
sound could be the transmission (either the pump or something else).
I am trying to figure out how long I have before the car becomes undriveable.

Since I cannot hear your car I would go with your mechanics opinion. Get a second opinion if you doubt his diagnosis.
