I got a 2001 explorer w/4.0L SOHC eng ,,its 2wd w/o the balance shaft in eng,,,,I got a 2001 4x4 eng w/balance shaft in eng can I put the 4x4 eng in my 2wd?????

Short answer yes. You will have to check to make sure all the electronics are the same or you will have to take those items with you.
