Check charging system message when trying to start engine

Asked by KKostel Dec 13, 2016 at 11:30 AM about the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002 ford explorer message center indicates 'check charging system' message as I try to start the engine.  The engine turns over easily and normally but the engine won't start.  The battery is 1 year old.  I have hooked up a charger all night, disconnected it and it won't start, however, if I keep the charger hooked up it will start

Call the AAA, they have this great battery service, will come to you and check out your charging system at no charge. They'll even sell you a new battery and install it , it's a great battery, with a super warranty, I've used them and are very pleased. If you don't have AAA, you should especially with an older car.
