i have changed the idle air control and it still stalls out when i push the throttle uner the hood also. could it be the furl pump i have tried almost everything. i bought it from a car lot last jan. and paid almost 5k for it and i've put another 5k in it. i just put the new motor in on sat. everything ran fine at first but after about a half hour i coudnt go anywhere. there was no power when you pushed the gas. then after we pulled it back home evrytime you start it, it will idle but it idles rough then when you push the throttle it dies. its like its getting to much air or not enough. or like its not getting the right amount of gas. today when we put the map sensor on we started it, it started right up but still idle rough and then when you push the throttle it died again. when we tried to start it back again you could smell the gas fumes like it was flooded. i have no idea what is wrong with it now. the only other thing i can think of is the fuel pump but it was like it happened instantly. it has me stumped at this point and ready tjo just junk it.....

fuel pressure and volume check at fuel rail, also, first check the distributor for proper setting turn slightly while running or align by sight

If it runs good and always stalls when ther throttle is just opened quite often the TPS (throttle position sensor) developes a bad spot just off idle. Usually if this is the cause if you accelerate hard it will be past the bad spot and run but if you just touch the throttle it will stall. Worth checking out, It can be tested with a scope on the center wire(signal). It should sweep up and doun to 5 volts max when the throttle is opened and be around .75 to 1 volt at idle..

I have a 95 with the 4.0. I have had a few problems out of it lately. although I only paid $500 for it and its in awesome shape inside and out. an older guy owned it with 125k on the dash. the engine would surge at idle when cold or first start after sitting, I cleaned the iac, throttle body, map sensor. then replaced the tps and iac and it runs like a new car, btw the bad tps made my tranny slip and change at random rpm..... now it's a very reliable vehicle. ... my 150 mile day champ...
