I have a hole in what I think is the valve cover

Asked by johnny1213 Jun 20, 2020 at 05:46 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer XLS Sport V6 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was just driving one day and outta nowhere my
engine got 10x louder than normal and I popped
the hood and saw a hole showing chains and oil
was leaking out, what causes that and how do I fix
it

1 Answer

Replace the valve cover but it is likely a cam chain problem caused the break. Fix the cause first and don't drive it at all until you do.
