I have a knocking in the top of the engine, would that come from the camshaft?

I have had top end engine noise. I have changed out the rocker arms and push rods. That helped with the chatering but there is a knocking noise. I suspect it's coming from the lifters/camshafts. What would cause that. What does the camshaft sensor do?

Here is what I would check: 1. Wheel nuts 2. U-joint 3. Wheel bearings 4. Driveshaft
