Oh, MAN!!-- REALLY!?? You Two???.....The 1968 Shelbys had a few different engines,The GT-350, had the 289 K (high performance), and optional, for this year--The 302-4 barrel carbed Windsor..The GT-500, in standard trim, had the Cobra-Jet 428..A FEW had the 427-Side Oiler option, included..Most of the GT 500 KR"S, came with the " SIDE OILER" 427 dual four barrel carb engine...

Not exactly. The 289 was gone for '68. The 302 was the GT350 motor. Shelby rated it at 250HP. Even though the 427 was listed as an option no cars got that motor at the factory. The GT500 cars got the police interceptor 428 with dual 4 bbls. Mid year, Shelby put 428 Cobra Jet engines in the GT500KR cars with a single 4 bbl carb. Cobra Jet motors were 428's with some 427 parts. I am an owner of a 68 GT350 and know these cars well.
