Knocking, acceleration issue, stalling on stop.

I have a 2007 Ford Escape Limited. It went 7,000 miles past oil change (oil light came on then engine light). it is knocking and stalled at a light today. The knocking and rattle in the engine is LOUD. With it floored it will rev up to 4rpms, but won't accelerate and while driving it holds at 2rpms but won't go over 40 mph, slower on hills and stalls at stop. please help!

Thank you for the information. This is the first time I have let it go past oil change simply because I couldn't afford the $30 bucks to have it done. Unfortunately, it looks like $30 bucks could have saved me a lot more. :(

Sounds like a brokern rod. These typically are not associated with a missed oil change. You can go without an oil change for a few thousand miles but your vehicle will perform sluggish. The broken rod may have been caused by water entering a cylinder chamber (bad head gasket) or could be just a fluke. You may want a mechanic to take a look at it for a better assessment.
