I have a 2007 Chev Malibu LS - The check engine light comes on periodically and the temp guage goes to zero periodically-heater works but not like it should-car makes a faint " whoo, whoo, whoo" noise when turned off-any suggestions on what the problem is?

CEL is on, no point in guessing, go get the code read. Any auto parts store will usually do this for free. You can check basic things as well, mainly coolant level since low coolant can cause at least one of your symptoms.
