1964.5 Ford Mustang?

Asked by JayThorn95 Sep 19, 2022 at 01:53 PM about the 1964 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My girlfriend has this old Ford Mustang which I

believe is a 64.5. I’m still in the process of deciding

the vin/warranty number. Maybe someone can help.

She wants me to do something with it but, after

cleaning it off and inspecting a little closer I found

some really bad rust spots. Haven’t even seen

under the car. We don’t have a garage or shop of

any kind and I don’t fully understand the caliber of

this restoration. Any tips would be greatly

appreciated.

Because there is rust and it will need a costly restoration you may not get what you would like for it .

Rust repair is usually cutting out the area of the rust back to bare metal and weld in a new section, primer and paint. Is it in the floorboard? You will need to find a local auto body shop that specializes in restoration and custom work. Don't be surprised when the costs will be in the thousands.
