Coolant smell and hot air

Asked by Taunus_1040 Jan 18, 2017 at 08:21 AM about the 2007 Kia Optima LX V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006.5 Kia Optima V6. I have a smell of coolant
and I can't get even cool air to blow out of the vents. It
only blows hot air. The car doesn't run hot. It has used
some coolant but not much. Any help?

The actuator/wire responsible for switching hot to cold might be out of its place. Along with a high coolant leak, In the morning, do the windows get mist over? (on the inside of the car) Or do you have any water/coolant on the passenger's side carpet? This should tell you if the heating core inside is leaking...

There is a film on the windshields but I don't think it the heater core. I'm leaning towards a heater control valve but it blows warm all the time.
