Why does the coolant level warning light come on.

Asked by Guru9Q151D Mar 03, 2022 at 05:13 PM about the 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

got a steady check engine light.  Mechanic replaced the coolant expansion
tank.  No check engine light but getting low coolant level light after driving for
about 20 minutes.  Coolant level not low.   I was told that the sensor in the new
tank could be bad or is it something with the computer??  Can't seem to get
and answer.  There appears to be no coolant leaks.

Maybe the sensor and the new tank aren't correct for your car. Maybe you need to change the tank sensor and the mechanic.

Unplug the coolant level sensor. If the light goes off the sensor is the problem. If you have the old tank and sensor, put the old sensor in the new tank. Some vehicles don't like aftermarket sensors. Hope that helps! Jim
