COOLANT LEAKS

Asked by bmh5 Dec 27, 2009 at 07:50 PM about the 2000 Saab 9-3 SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

93k on the 2000SE.  Just started leaking coolant.  Enough to drip about 2 drops every second.  Best we can figure out is the leak comes from behind the big pully above the crank pully.  Does that make sense?  Seems that pully shaft would not connect to any coolant area in the block.

thanks

you were right. hairline crack. Unit does not look original however. Seems to have zero wear on steel impeller. There is no pitting in the aluminum housing either. Could the crack come from someone over tightening the unit? many thanks bmh
