My license plate lamps won't work.

Asked by Patrick Nov 08, 2014 at 09:43 AM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Cheyenne Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've done everything I can think of to get
them to work with no positive results.
Fuses are good and the right amp.  Bulbs
are brand new. Sockets are brand new.
Ground is cleaned and in good condition.
I've tested the wires and there is power but
the lights will still not come on. Anybody
have any other ideas that might help?

Have you tested to see if you have power to the socket? If you have power to the socket, is there power after the socket with the bulb in? You may have a cold connection in the socket or a broken wire or bad ground. If you have no power to the socket, start working back to find a possible break in the wire. Turn your lights on, place a voltmeter on the socket wire coming into the socket and make sure you have a solid ground on the voltmeter. You should read between 10 to 12 volts DC.
